About The Spirit Room
The Spirit Room was an idea developed by the Board of Directors during the worst of the pandemic, when we couldn’t put on a show for 520 days. The board spent a great deal of time strategizing ways in which to diversify revenue streams as a way to support the Mabel operations. After months of planning, the concept of a permanent bar structure was developed along with restoring the basement to match the rest of the beautiful building.
The new bar occupies the same location as the soda fountain that was installed in the 1950’s. The bar was completed by Mike Kolstad, who has been doing projects at the Mabel since the 1970’s. Plumbing was completed by Ahern and electrical done by Bear Valley Electric. The unique stenciling found in this space, inspired by the original, iconic stenciling around the theater, was designed and hand painted by the talented Wade Lambrigtsen from Vintage Signs. The logo was created to fit within the Mabel Tainter’s existing identity, both by Erik Evensen.
